Matthew has always enjoyed watching others grow and develop their skills, and takes pride in helping other reach their Martial Arts goals.
Martial arts have taken Matthew to four countries, including, England, Italy, Finland, and America, where he has met some fantastic people and helped mentor very dedicated students.
Matthew also integrated his day time job with his passion. Having a history working in private security; staring as a Door Supervisor at night clubs, working his way up to being a Senior Supervisor of Security at a National Stadium, with a small bit of Close Protection work in between; he now works for Police Scotland as a Response Officer. Matthew also became a Officer Safety Training Instructor, teaching the open hand and PPE techniques to new recruits and serving Officers.
All these experiences are now a central part of his teaching, and a fundamental part of MLD's courses.
Matthew became the National Chief Instructor for Scotland with Missing Link Martial Arts in 2023 after creating their Instructor Training Program.
His work has always included teaching with charities such as No Knives Better Lives, however in 2023 he started his own Martial Arts charity called Geez A Gi.
Matthew came up with the name 'Martial Law Dojo' as it is a combination of his passion, Martial Arts, himself, 'Law' and Dojo meaning a training area or school, its also a play on words but we are not that strict around here.
MLD is only the start of the next chapter in Matthew's own martial arts journey, and one that he hopes will be long and beneficial not only to himself, but everyone he gets to train with.
